Happy 21st Anniversary !!!

~HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE~

Today is Lonnie and my 21 wedding anniversary !!

Today we had a great day.. went to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Went to dinner with Alex's mom and her friend and she took us to a place called Au Chic Parisien.. it is a Okianwan/French place and was very good.. We were the only ones in there. Some of the food was a little strange to me, but I tried everything (including the chicken liver) .. It was very funny because after they brought us that course, every time the next course was brought out, the chef would peek out to see our reaction to the food.. I saw him one time and gave him the "thumbs up" and he smiled. I had a wonderful day with my wonderful husband.. I love you more and more everyday and am so happy I get to grow old with you.. forever and ever <3

Onna Village For Snorkeling

Lonnie and I for the last four years have always tried to go snorkeling on our anniversary.. last year he was not here.. this year we went a day early because I have so much to do on Thurs. (our anniv) We asked Kayleigh and Alex if they wanted to go.. Alex is a scuba diver and has lived here for the past 18 years and knows a lot of places we can to.. although I don't dive, he did take us to a place to snorkel. It was great.. I got to hold a puffer fish, brittle starfish and a crab .. that Alex calls a "bear crab". There were so many fish to see it was great. Alex brought along his spear and caught a Trumpet Fish.. we brought it home, cooked and ate it.. and I have to say.. not to bad ! Today was a great day !!

Sinbad !!

Tonight Lonnie and I went to go see Sinbad perform his comedy act here on Kadena. Doors opened at 8pm, so we left the house about 8:10 thinking that would be plenty of time to get there and get a good seat.... Wrong.. by the time we got there, there was a line from one door to the other.. we did get pretty good seats though. His act started at 9pm and by the time we got out after meeting him and getting our picture taken.. it was 12:30am... His show was really funny ! At first, I don't think that Lonnie wanted to go, but now I think that he is glad he went.

236th U.S. Army Ball

Tonight Lonnie and I went to the Army Birthday Ball.. we didn't want to go at first.. but once we got there we had alot of fun. Once again it was held at the Bulter O'Club. This year was a little different then the others we have been to.. most of our friends either didn't go this year, or they have PCS'ed away. There were a few people that we still knew so it was good to see them. This is our last Army Ball on Okinawa so I am glad that we did go.

Nick's Cake

A few days ago I asked Jobelle to make a cake for Nick. Jobelle is an amazing cake decorator and cake maker.. she has made so many cakes from baby showers to weddings.. So I Facebooked her and we made a plan.. please make a cake for about 10 people and have Nick help, without knowing it was his cake..hahaha.. the plan went down like planned!! He was at her house helping her and I guess complaining that she never makes him a cake.. I got a phone call from Nick that she was bringing the cake over for me to see before she "dropped it off at the house" .. they came in and Lonnie took Nick into his room to "talk" to him so Jobelle could write Nick's name on the cake.. when Nick came out.. it was perfect !! The look on his face was priceless!! And then he realized that he helped with his own cake.. it was great!! So glad the plan went down without a hitch!! The cake looks amazing and we will eat it today !! Thank you Jobelle.. your the best !!!

Nick GRADUATES !!!!

NICK DID IT !!!!!!! We are such proud parents today !! Today started off by getting Nick up to go to the school for his graduation rehearsal, while he was gone, we put up the banner that Christine Kelly bought us in the States (because they didnt have any here) bought a graduation lei and made a money lei for him. He came home and got dressed for his big night and was off again to the school to get bussed to the Okinawa Civic Center. We got there about an hour before so we could get good seats. Kayleigh and Alex came and Takayo (Alex's mom) came also. There were good speaches from everyone and the senior choir members sang so we got to see/hear Nick sing one last time. Then it was the moment we all have been waiting for.. THE DIPLOMA'S... Nick had so many friends there to cheer him on as he crossed the stage!! It was a very proud moment for his dad and I to see our last child cross the stage. Its been a rough road for us.. but HE DID IT !!! After, we took a lot of pictures and then he was off to the senior all nighter ( project graduation ) at MCAS Futenma. He came home this morning at 7am with his diploma in hand.. :) WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU NICK.. AND LOVE YOU SO MUCH !! Mom and Dad

From Japan Update...

This is from the Japan Update.. a newspaper here on Okinawa:

Typhoon Songda hammers Okinawa on trek north
Date Posted: 2011-06-02Typhoon Songda, the first May typhoon to strike Okinawa in 60 years, made its way across Okinawa Saturday night as a Category 3 typhoon packing winds of 125mph/201kph/55.3m/s while cruising through Naha City. Some 270,000 homes were left without power during the typhoon’s three-hour visit to Okinawa, while knocking down trees, submerging cars during flash flooding, and ripping roofs off buildings. Songda, which is a branch of the Red River in Vietnam, was content to wreak havoc only in the form of property damage; no deaths or injuries were reported. The typhoon began its quest in southern Okinawa, then worked its way north to the main island. Starting with Kumejima Town, Songda left 10 cars submerged by flash flooding, and coastal barriers were destroyed. An arcade roof fell and wreckage strewn across the street at Chuo-Sousetsu in Itoman City. In Yaese Town, vending machines were toppled and a boat was lifted from the water onto land by the howling winds. Trees were uprooted across the island, and thousands of trees had limbs and branches stripped away.In Ogimi Village, a galvanized sheet iron roof was torn away by heavy winds, then caught in electric power lines, knocking a utility pole down. In Ogimi Village, a house trailer was rolled over onto its side. Kin Town Junior High School saw its golf training ground totally destroyed, with sheet metal roofing coming apart and part of it flying some 80 meters to a corner of the school grounds.Gift shops on Kokusai felt the impact with broken glass windows. Signboards and vending machines in a parking lot on Kokusai were blown to a pedestrian walkway. Okinawa Prefectural Police say there were 74 traffic signal lights cut off, two signal poles destroyed by heavy winds in Uruma City and Okinawa City, eight cases of traffic light breakdowns, and 46 instances of traffic signals damaged. Some traffic accidents were reported as a result of non-functioning traffic signals.Farmers are feeling the effects of Typhoon Songda. Roughly 80% of this year’s goya crop was destroyed, and other vegetables, including lettuce and cucumbers were heavily damaged by the strong winds and the salt. Farm organizations say the storm will send the price of producing soaring. As the storm moved across mainland Japan, heavy rains caused by the remains of Typhoon Songda posed numerous landslide threats Monday, particularly in the areas devastated by the earthquake and tsunami in eastern Japan March 11th. Flooding was widespread in Miyagi Prefecture, and power outages struck Minaminsanrikeu in Iwate Prefecture, where many citizens are still housed in emergency shelters in schools. East Japan Railway Co. stopped service on a number of its lines, as winds as strong as 118kph crossed Miyagi Prefecture.

Tonight we went to the NCO club for the Parent Appreciation Night .. We went two years ago with Kayleigh and this was Nick's night. We had a nice dinner and got to hear a few letter that kids wrote to their parents. Nick wrote us a very nice letter but didn't read it in front of everyone. It was a nice night, I'm glad went.

Nick's Last Choir Concert

Tonight was Nick's last HS choir concert .. it was really good... laid back and everyone sang really well. It was a little sad to know that the days are coming to an end for Nick and his HS days, but also happy to see what is next for him. I took alot of video this time and not alot of pictures. Good job Nick !! You did great !!
