On May 27th Lonnie, Kayleigh and myself flew to Arkansas to lay my dad to rest. It had been years since I was back home and it was bitter sweet why we were there. I was so happy to see my family, but it was a hard day for me also. We flew into Tusla OK. and drove to Fayetteville. My cousins were there and my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin flew in from Texas to be there also. Lonnie had arranged for the Arkansas National Guard to be there and they did a 16 gun salute which was wonderful. I also was presented a folded flag. Kayleigh took all the pictures and did a great job. Oh,and Lonnie dug my fathers grave. Dig a grave... check.

Mother's Day ~ Color Run
Happy Mother's Day !!!!
This Mother's Day was my first one without any of my children ... it was bitter sweet.. Nick is in Kansas, Kayleigh was in Oregon attending a friends wedding and Alex was away for work. So this year Lonnie and I did the Color Run by ourselves, It was my best time at 44:10 and that is walking up two hills. I was very happy with this time. This year they did things a little different and at the "color stations" they squirted us with colored water instead of chalk.. now this would be great if it was warm outside.. but it was early and the water made it cold. They did throw chalk at the finish line and handed out bags of it for the big throw. This by the way was our THIRD year in a row doing the color run.. its turning out to be a Mother's Day tradition :)

Smashfest @ Puyallup Spring Fair
Kayleigh, Alex and I were home and it was so nice out.. so we decided to go to the Spring Fair.. although I really didn't want to walk around because of all the teenagers, and little kids.. yes, I think I am turning into that person..haha. So we saw that Smashfest. It is a demolition derby of sorts.. it was fun to go to .. I had never been to anything like that.. but will I need to go back.. I don't think so.. Unless Lonnie wants to go sometime. We did eat there.. Kayleigh got her corndog, Alex didn't get his turkey leg (we could not find one) but he did get corn.. and I got this ok burger.. nothing to write home about.. but I was hungry. After Smashfest there were fireworks, it was nice, I like fireworks !! And lastly, we went and rode one ride.. I love the Yoyo ride.. it was just like it.. but I cant remember the real name of it.. we all three went on and I was one happy lady ! Here are some pictures:

Weekend Getaway..
This past weekend Lonnie and I went to Long Beach and stayed at the Shelburne Inn. Martha had gotten us a room for Christmas last year and we needed to use it before it expired..
We left Friday after work and headed down.. half way there we remembered the paper work for in Inn...lol.. leave it to us to forget it. We got to Long Beach and checked into our room.. it was amazing. There was a sitting room, bedroom and our own bathroom. Also, there was a door that lead to a garden off of the sitting room. We called Martha and met up with her at the Roo for dinner.
The next day we had planned to hit the beach for a run.. well, our "run" ended up being a walk.. who knew that running on the beach would be so hard.. haha.. We had passed a car that was stuck in the sand when we got on the beach, so we went over to help them out. After a few tries we got it unstuck. Then we headed back to the Shelburne and had breakfast, changed clothes and set out for the day. We went down pier to see the open market, but they didn't have it up and running yet, so we decided to go for a drive instead. We drove over to Ocean Shores and around the area. We got back to LB and walked around there for a bit, went to some antique stores. Then we got the great idea of going to one of the light houses. We decided to hike up to Cape Disappointment. It was a nice hike and a great workout being how we didn't go for a run.. we then came back and got ready for a nice dinner at the Shelburne .. AMAZING !!! After dinner we went over to Martha's house to visit.
Sunday we got up and got ready to head back home.. we had our last breakfast at the Inn and had Martha join us.
We had a wonderful time.. and the weather was beautiful, we could not have asked for a better time :) It was a great little getaway!

St. Patrick's Day Dash
Earlier this month I set out to find a 5k to do.. my goal is to try to do one each month. I found one for this month.. The St. Patrick's Day Dash in Seattle. Our heat started at 9am and I am happy to say that I met my goal of running/walking it under an hour !! I have been "training" at the gym on the treadmill on running more.. looks like it has paid off. After the race we headed for the beer garden were we had lots of fun, dancing and green beer. It was a fun day even if it did rain. Thanks to Lonnie, Alex and Kayleigh who ran with me !!
