Christmas Party

This year we were invited to the neighbors Christmas party. Burt and Kim have been having a party for the past 5 years. Every party is a theme.. This year it was famous couples or famous person. Lonnie and I were supposed to go, but Lonnie came home sick from drill and didnt make it to the party. So.... I had Alex dress up in his costume... haha. I was Jessie from Toy Story and Alex was Woody .. Kayleigh came as Lora Croft and looked great !! It was alot of fun.. tons of food and white elephant gifts.  

A Big Surprise

I love it when a plan comes together !!! On Thurs. Nov. 7th I got a text from my Mother in law Inge. She said that she would like to fly from Virginia Beach to come see us and bring a painting that she had done for us.. but she didn't want Lonnie to know she was coming.. oh, and she wanted to come on Nov. 9th.. that's TWO days away !! :) I was so excited to do this for Lonnie. It had been a few years since he saw his mother and what a great surprise !  I got Kayleigh and Alex in on it also, I would keep Lonnie busy on Sat. the 9th and they would go to the airport to get her. Lonnie and I did a lot of shopping and tried to get my car fixed, and then came home and just waited. I got a call from Alex to tell me they were on their way, so I got Lonnie downstairs to wait.. he was hungry and wanted to know when we were going to eat..lol.. I told him we were waiting on the kids and they were on their way. They walked in the door with a huge package from Inge.. the painting.. and he started to open it.. it was packed really good.. I'm sure he was thinking "how did the kids get this?" but didn't say anything. Inge came in the garage door and was watching Lonnie open the painting.. it was beautiful and we were just admiring it when Inge said "so you like it"?  Lonnie looked confused, he knew the voice but was not sure where it came from !!!  He looked around and saw his mother.. he was so happy!!!  Big hugs were given and tears of joy !  Everything worked out the way we planned it !! Wooohoooo !!   Here is a picture of Lonnie and his mother Inge.. its a little blurry, because at 3am, you think its a good picture...lol.. and a picture of the amazing painting that will go in our entryway :) Thank you for the painting.. we LOVE it !! 

Pumpkin Carving 10~30~13

Tonight we carved our pumpkins we got last weekend... I have to admit, I am not a big fan of carving pumpkins and honestly the last time was probably 20ish years ago.. Don't get me wrong, Lonnie carved them with the kids when they were little.. .OUTSIDE... but the smell always made me sick. But this year, I sucked it up and carved my pumpkin !!  And had fun doing it.  After we were done, we roasted the seeds, which is my favorite part..ha ha.. I think that all three of them turned out really well... Kayleigh and Alex did one together, Lonnie did his and I broke out the power tools and did mine !!

 

Pumpkin Patch ~ Maris Farm

This year we went to Maris Farm.. so far, this is the best Pumpkin Patch we have been to.. and it didn't rain this year !!    It was a fun time !! We got to watch pig races, shoot small pumpkins and corn and we went on the hay ride.

Liz Gets A JOB !!! 10~18~13

That is right.. you read that correctly.. I GOT A JOB !!! After 2 years of not working.. I am back in the work force. I got a job on JBLM (Joint Base Lewis McChord) at the CDC. Right now I am in the training part of it.. and its going ok but man am I tired !!  I will be posting more on working as I get into it more. :) Looking forward to the paychecks !!! 

Bon Jovi 10~5~13

For Alex's birthday this year we got Bon Jovi concert tickets.. Bon Jovi is one of Alex's favorite bands and I was so excited to give him the tickets on his birthday (July 26) I could see it in his face that he was so happy. The concert was at the Tacoma Dome and I have never been there for a concert so was not sure how good the seats would be. They were not that bad, but wish I could have gotten closer. It was a really fun night and so happy that we could do this for Alex !!
